Terra Nova Climber Survey Form

Terra Nova Climber Survey Form

Raptors commonly nest at Terra Nova between March and June each year. Southwest Oregon Climber’s Coalition will be monitoring territorial response during the 2026 nesting season. You can help by letting us know what you are seeing and hearing while at Terra Nova during this period.

To submit observations through the Climber Survey Form click this link or scan the code below. This can be bookmarked in a browser on your phone for access at Terra Nova.

However, you may not be able to access the form with limited cell service at the crag. If you do not usually have good reception at the crag, make note of the following information while there and fill out the form when you return to cell service:

  1. Date
  2. Number in Party
  3. When and Where were you climbing today (which walls/routes)?
  4. Did you hear or see any raptor activity in the areas you visited?
  • No raptors seen or heard
  • Saw a small to medium size hawk
  • Heard screeching or a noise similar to “kak-kak-kak-kak”
  • Heard and saw a medium size hawk briefly
  • Heard and saw a medium size hawk that appeared aggressive
  • If the hawk appeared aggressive to people or pets, list the routes or areas it was reactive to and give each a value of 1, 2, or 3 based on the following:
    • 1 – Inconsistent response while on route or in area.
    • 2 – Consistent response on upper portion of route.
    • 3 – Consistent response at ground level or entire route.
      (example: “Boneyard = 3, Pavlova = 2”)
  1. Can we contact you for more information?  If yes, please provide your contact information.
